What's on it
Liberty faces right in a leafy wreath and soft cap. The back copies the Great Seal: an eagle with a shield, olive branch, and arrows.
When it was made
The first ones were spent in 1892, the year Ellis Island opened. The design lasted until 1916, so it was pocket change for a whole generation.
The Denver mint
Denver began in 1863 as a gold office in the Pikes Peak rush, started striking coins in 1906, and still runs today.
