What makes one worth more than melt
- A common brilliant-uncirculated Eagle usually sells for spot plus a small premium, not exactly melt.
- 1995-W proof (about 30,000 struck) and 1996 (the lowest bullion-strike mintage, 3.6 million) are the two dates worth checking before you spend one.
